Legrand Care technology leads the digitalization of telecare in the Community of Madrid

Legrand Care will contribute to the transformation of telecare services

In the avant-garde atmosphere of the social and healthcare transformation in the Community of Madrid, Legrand Care, an international leader in the social and healthcare sector, recognized for innovation in digital telecare technology, has been selected to lead a revolutionary project aimed at carrying out the transition of telecare services from analogue to digital to improve people’s lives.

In just three months, Legrand Care supplied approximately 40,000 carephones and 70,000 advanced digital telecare peripherals to service providers in the city of Madrid.

The technological deployment in Madrid homes was completed earlier this year, making this ambitious project a reality and a significant milestone in the digital transformation of telecare services in the region.

The implementation of these terminals has expanded Legrand Care’s connected homes to over 700,000 connected devices and almost one million peripherals globally.

Legrand Care’s NOVO terminals are certified devices functioning as digital hubs with 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, LAN network, Bluetooth, and radiofrequency connectivity, allowing the association of a wide range of peripherals and the creation of connected homes. Another crucial element for this project is the professional portal Pulse CMP, enabling advanced management of the digital park.

This substantial supply facilitates the provision of an innovative service model known as “New Telecare,” focused on providing efficient person-centred care through a comprehensive service transformation and the implementation of remote monitoring and routine analysis systems, ensuring safety and autonomy.

The success of this significant tender has reaffirmed Legrand Care’s leadership position in digital transformation both in Spain and the rest of Europe. In addition to this notable project, Legrand Care is actively engaged in other global initiatives that will drive digital transformation as analogue phone systems are phased out in the coming years.

Next Generation Funds

This public tender has been financed with the Next Generation funds from the European Union.

It is noteworthy that digital transformation funding was a pressing need across all sectors for modernization in Spain and the rest of the European continent. Fortunately, these funds have become an accelerator for the digitalization of technological parks by supporting the adoption of cutting-edge solutions.

Advantages of digital technology

The user at the heart of services

Digital technology is increasingly entering our daily lives, bringing us into a smartly connected world. Mobile apps, cloud-based systems and the Internet of Things (IoT) have created an environment where information can be accessed anywhere, anytime.

The world of assistive technology, once based on analogue infrastructures, is undergoing an accelerated evolution into the digital world. Analogue telephone lines are being replaced by purely digital communication networks where the possibilities are limitless.

In less than a decade, analogue communication lines will be obsolete in many countries, paving the way for a new, more secure and higher quality model of information management and service provision. Legrand Care, a leader in healthcare technology, is aware of this transition and is already offering a wide range of devices and platforms adapted to the digital world of today and tomorrow.

Digital technology has revolutionised many aspects of the health and social care sector, brought numerous advantages and improved people’s quality of life. Some of the most outstanding advantages are:

  • Efficient access to and management of information: Digital technology makes it possible to collect, store and access large amounts of data quickly and efficiently. This facilitates the management of medical records, patient records, epidemiological data and other relevant information for health and social care professionals.
  • Improved care and diagnosis: Digital technology has improved medical diagnosis and treatment systems. The use of tools such as telemedicine and health apps allow healthcare professionals to perform remote consultations and diagnoses, reducing waiting times and improving access to care.
  • Remote patient monitoring: Thanks to connected devices and biometric sensors, it is possible to remotely monitor the health status of patients. This allows healthcare professionals to continuously track their patients, detect problems or anomalies early and provide timely interventions.
  • Automation of administrative processes: Digital technology has simplified and automated many administrative processes in the healthcare sector, such as appointment management, patient registration, billing and inventory management. This reduces administrative workload and allows healthcare professionals to spend more time on direct patient care.
  • Improved communication and collaboration: Digital tools, such as messaging systems and online collaboration platforms, facilitate communication and collaboration between different actors in the health and social care sector. Health professionals can exchange information more quickly and efficiently, improving coordination and quality of care.
  • Health promotion and prevention: Digital technology has enabled the development of apps and devices that encourage health promotion and disease prevention. These tools provide information, advice and personalised monitoring, helping people to adopt healthy habits and prevent diseases.

In short, digital technology has brought numerous benefits to the health and social care sector, improving medical care, information management, communication, prevention and people’s quality of life. Companies such as Legrand Care are working to bring this digital technology to the health and social care sector in a way that makes it efficient, connected and safer.

This shift requires “education in rights, values, and a greater understanding of the aging process to humanize relationships.”

In the session dedicated to healthcare and social services, the focus was on addressing the needs of the most vulnerable elderly individuals, while respecting their preferences. Innovative projects, such as ‘cohousing,’ were presented as potential solutions.

Regarding digital literacy, the importance of public and private institutions taking this issue seriously was highlighted, aiming to “guarantee the digital rights of individuals, ensure access to technology for all without discrimination, and pay special attention to the most vulnerable groups.”

The 11th National Congress of Elderly Organizations received collaboration from entities such as Legrand Care, Novartis, Eulen Sociosanitarios, Mapfre, Fundación “la Caixa,” Fundación ONCE, Banco Santander, and Adeslas, among others.

Digital transformation in the health and social care sector: improving quality of life

In recent years, digital technology has revolutionised various sectors, and healthcare is no exception. Thanks to technological advances, this field has undergone a significant transformation, improving people’s quality of life and optimising healthcare processes. Legrand Care explores the benefits of digital technology in the healthcare sector. It explores how it has positively impacted patients and healthcare professionals.

What are the 7 quality of life improvements?
    • Access to information and efficient management: Digital technology has enabled efficient collection, storage and access of large amounts of medical information. Healthcare professionals can access electronic medical records, patient records and epidemiological data quickly and securely. This streamlines diagnostic and treatment processes, improving care and avoiding errors arising from manual document management.
    • Telemedicine and remote care: Telemedicine has been one of the most prominent innovations in the health and social care sector. Thanks to digital technology, patients can receive medical care remotely, without traveling. Video consultations, real-time exchange of medical information and remote monitoring of patients enable fast, accessible and personalised care, especially for those living in rural areas or who have mobility difficulties.
    • Monitoring and continuous care: Connected devices and biometric sensors enable remote patient monitoring. These devices can collect real-time data on blood pressure, blood glucose, heart rate, among others. Healthcare professionals can constantly monitor patients’ progress, detect health problems at early stages and provide timely interventions. This improves quality of life and avoiding unnecessary hospitalisations.
    • Automation of administrative processes: Digital technology has simplified and automated many administrative processes in the health and social care sector. Appointment management, patient records, billing and inventory control can now be performed more efficiently. This reduces administration workload and allows healthcare professionals to spend more time on direct patient care.
    • Improved communication and collaboration: Digital tools have improved communication and collaboration between health and social care actors. Healthcare professionals can exchange information and opinions quickly and securely through messaging systems and online collaboration platforms. This fosters greater coordination and teamwork, resulting in more comprehensive and efficient care for patients.
    • Health promotion and disease prevention: Digital technology has enabled the development of applications and devices focused on health promotion and disease prevention. These tools provide information.
    • Telecare devices: offer increased autonomy and peace of mind to older people and their relatives with connected devices and sensors that allow for continuous monitoring of people’s well-being with detectors and alarms in case of emergency.

Companies such as Legrand Care manufacture telecare devices such as the NOVO to help elderly people and their families have a better quality of life.
